Sumeru Navkar Tirth - Karjan

Shri Vasupujya Swami Bhagwan

The village of Miyagam is located just 1 km away from the town of Karjan in the Vadodara district of Gujarat. Its ancient name was Mahia Nagari. At one time, thousands of families lived here.

There were 4 spire-topped Jinalayas in the village. The Jain population in the village decreased. There were no devotees left to worship the Lord, and disrespect began to occur in the Jinalayas.

To remove this disrespect, the Bandhu Beladi Acharyashri Jinchandrasagarsuriji and Acharyashri Hemchandrasagarsuriji inspired the leaders of the Jain Sangh of Miyagam to move the idols of the Lord elsewhere. However, due to their unwillingness, the revered Acharyas presented the idea of Sumeru-Navkar Tirth, where the idols of all the Jinalayas of Miyagam could be installed together. All the leaders were satisfied with this idea.

Under the guidance of the Bandhu Beladi Acharyashri Jinchandrasagarsuriji and Acharyashri Hemchandrasagarsuriji Maharaj Saheb, the Anjanshalaka Pratishtha (consecration ceremony) was held at Sumeru Navkar Tirth on the auspicious day of Maha Vad 7, 14/2/2001, with the Ashtanhika Mahotsav. The distinguished Shri Kishorbhai Bhimji Sanghvi took full advantage of this festival.

The principal deity Shri Vasupujya Swami Bhagwan is enshrined in the Jinalaya. The idol of the Lord is very ancient. On the upper floor, idols of Simandhar Swami and other 19 Viharman Lords are enshrined.

Beautiful arrangements for Dharamshala (rest house) and Bhojanshala (dining hall) are available here. This pilgrimage site is 13 km away from Miyagam Karjan station. Anasthu Tirth is 5 km away from here.
